Reiki I for Children

Why I teach children

When I opened my Reiki practice, I always knew that helping children would be right at the top of my wish-list: my very first client was just 10-years-old, and all the children I have gone on to welcome to The Cabin have all reported feeling much calmer and happier because of their Reiki time.

It seems like the logical next step to now offer Reiki Training to children, so that they can play a part in their own healing.

Training for children, however, is very different to the training I offer adults. It is condensed into just two hours of teaching, and although all children will receive the same attunements as adult students, I DO NOT teach children how to give Reiki to other people (as adult Reiki students are taught).

My reason for doing this is simple: Reiki I is all about self-healing, and looking after your own well-being, and as children, I don’t believe they should also be trying to heal other people.

What your child will learn

01

Attunement to Reiki

Reiki is different from all other hands-on healing systems, and what makes it unique is the “attunement", which will allow your child to immediately begin using Reiki on themselves.

02

How Reiki works: the chakras

Using language that children will understand, I describe the body’s seven main energy centres, or chakras, explaining how they are responsible for supplying energy to different parts of the body, and how they can use the chakras to feel happier and healthier.

03

How to do a self-treatment

Reiki I is all about your child’s well-being, which is why they’ll be taught how to practice self-treatment. A daily self-treatment will help with any current issues, as well as preventing illness, bringing life back into balance quickly.

04

On-going support

Your child will be asked to fill in a 21-day Reiki Journal after their training, and I’d hope parents/guardians will encourage their child to do this as a way of ensuring their child practices their new skills. I will also be on hand for any advice/support your child may need after the workshop.

Here's what you need to know...

There are no restrictions on how old a child needs to be before they have Reiki training. However, I think it’s really important that a child understands what they are doing, and wants to do it – these are questions I will ask them on the day.

As a parent of course, you know your child best, and you’ll know whether they are capable of making this important decision. But as a guide I’d prefer children to be at least 8-years-old before they come for training.

If your child is under 8, I’d recommend a parent/guardian takes Reiki I training for themselves, then they’ll be able to give their child all the Reiki they need on a daily basis.

You can learn more about my adult Reiki classes by clicking below.

I would encourage you to bring your child for a Reiki Treatment in The Cabin prior to booking them in for Reiki I training – that way, they get to see if they enjoy Reiki, and they also get to meet me and see how I work.

All workshops are conducted on a one-to-one basis, so I only ever teach one child at a time. A parent/guardian is very welcome to sit in on the class if they wish to and/or if the child would prefer it.

Each course is two hours long, so please book a time and date to suit your child. Refreshments and snacks are provided throughout the course.

I have written a Level 1 Reiki for Children manual, which your child will take away with them. They’ll also awarded a Reiki I certificate.

The cost for Reiki I for Children training is £80 (the same price as spending two hours in The Cabin having 4 x 30min Child Reiki Treatments). The cost is non-refundable, though fully transferable if at least two weeks’ notice is given before the course date.
