Feeling stressed? Just 10 minutes of Reiki can help you.

I read about an amazing study earlier this week, which involved over 1,700 participants, and which tracked the difference just 10-minutes of Reiki made on their stress and pain reduction.

It’s well known that there’s a correlation between stress and chronic pain: people experiencing stressful circumstances are more likely to develop chronic pain; and someone suffering from chronic pain, is more likely to develop conditions such as depression and anxiety.

To be honest, there aren’t that many Reiki trials and studies that are carried out – certainly not of this scale – so when one finally does hit the headlines, we Reiki peeps are always delighted when the statistics back up what we already know to be true in practice – that Reiki works!

Stressful situations can lead to chronic pain.
Stressful situations can lead to chronic pain.

This most recent study, which is part of a broader research study on stress, was conducted in Chicago, USA, between September 2022 and December 2024. The Reiki sessions were given to people working in potentially stressful environments, such as police and fire departments, offices, university campuses and a juvenile detention centre.

Its headline result was that the vast majority of participants reported a significant change in their stress level (72.62% reduction overall) and pain (63.34% reduction overall), following just ONE single 10-minute Reiki Treatment.

Wow. How amazing is that!

The study’s authors note that: “As the practice of Reiki had become more popular, so has interest in exploring its value as an intervention.”

It also reports that Reiki is being used more and more in hospitals – and that’s not something that only happens in America, because Reiki is making its mark in our NHS, too. Again, all brilliant news.

Confirming that Reiki is a safe and gentle healing technique, that can be learned by anyone, the study also noted that while Reiki is spiritual in nature, in the West most people mainly view it as a hands-on healing technique.

Personally, I’ve been working with Reiki’s gentle healing power for over 16 years, and I never cease to be amazed by what it can do.

By channelling energy to specific parts of your body, Reiki therapists like me help to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and facilitate physical and emotional healing. We get your energy flowing freely again, and when your energy body is balanced, so is your life!

Until next week.

Much love,
