So how do you feel about love?

I’ve always been one for celebrating good times and marking special dates (just ask anyone who knows me!) so there’s been plenty of cork popping going on, as it’s been a very momentous week for our family!

You see, although my dad died many years ago, had he lived, he’d have been celebrating his 90th birthday this week.

So, you can image how utterly delighted we were as a family, when we also welcomed our newest family member into the world – with the birth of my dad’s first great-grandchild, born just the day before what would have been the date of his big birthday, Friday May 16.

My nephew (the new baby’s dad) always had a very special relationship with his granddad (my dad), which makes the closeness of these birth dates even more notable. And not only did granddad and grandson share the same name, but they also shared a very special bond.

Love.

It’s such a simple word. But it means everything.

Welcome to the world!
Welcome to the world!

Of course, we all express our love in very different ways. When it came to my dad, he was definitely a man of very few words, brought up in an era where public displays of affection just didn’t exist! He preferred to let my mam do all that stuff.

I suppose my dad’s own family upbringing had a lot to do with how he expressed his feelings – or more accurately, how he didn’t express them. His own mam died when he was only 10-years-old, and it seems that when she passed, so did the love.

Thankfully, my dad met and married my mam when they were both pretty young, and they went on to create a new family, with a marriage of over 45 years before dad died. But although we each expressed it in our own ways, there was always endless love in our family.

And despite his lack of words, we always felt dad’s love.

If you feel loved, then you have everything, right?

And I’ll be honest – that’s how I feel every time I give one of my clients a Reiki Treatment. I feel love.

You might wonder how I could feel love for someone who I may only have just met for the first time 15 minutes earlier, but I honestly do. That’s what practising Reiki does for you.

Because at its core, that’s what Reiki is – pure, unconditional love.

At the end of a Reiki Treatment, my clients will often tell me how they feel, and what they experienced; they’re often blown away by their encounter with Reiki, and some find it hard to put into words what they’re actually feeling.

But I always hope that what they’re feeling is love.

I’ve talked before about what Reiki feels like (to me, it’s like a great big hug!) and you can read that Blog by clicking below.

But maybe before you can feel and then express the love that you feel for other people, you need to be able to love yourself?

And self-love isn’t always easy.

But that’s where Reiki can help you. I wrote a Blog about self-love last year, which you can read by clicking below.

If you let Reiki be your guide on your journey to self-love, it really can work wonders; you can literally watch as your life transforms into a symphony of love, joy, and peace.

Ultimately, the most important relationship you have is with yourself, so I always encourage my clients to embrace it with open arms. But if you find that difficult, then how about you let the healing glow of Reiki illuminate the path to self-love and acceptance?

I know, without doubt, that the beautiful new baby in our family will never be without love, which in turn will allow him to experience the joy that is self-love.

And truly, there really is no greater peace.

Until next week.

Much love,

Denise
