Want more magic in your life? Then it’s time to hand things over.

Next week marks two years since I started Mintaka Reiki in Sandbach. The time has flown by so quickly! So, I thought I’d take a moment to reflect on what’s happened since I decided to set up my Reiki practice.
Well, it’s certainly been a wonderful experience.
It was in February 2024 that I began making plans – writing all the words for my website, which my amazingly brilliant daughter then set about designing.
Then there were things like Facebook to get my head around, a ‘uniform’ to think about, and of course there was much to be done to make The Cabin the kind of welcoming treatment room I hoped clients would love as much as I do.

I also started writing this weekly Blog, hoping that the people who read it would not only enjoy hearing my Reiki insights, but I also hoped that I could spread the word a little more about all the wonderful things that Reiki can help you with.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Reiki is a safe, natural, and simple healing technique, centred on relaxation and stress relief, which in turn helps to heal the body, mind and spirit. It’s based on the belief that an unseen life force energy flows through us all, affecting both our physical and emotional health. During Reiki sessions, practitioners like me use hands-on techniques to transfer energy to a client, promoting healing and balance.
In my first Blog, imaginatively entitled: My First Week As A Reiki Therapist in Sandbach (!) I wrote about how I was getting better at handing over control, and encouraged others to try it, too.
You see, I guess most new practices would have some sort of a business plan, a blueprint for what they hoped might happen in their first year of operation.
But I didn’t.
The only plan I had was to devote my heart, head, and time to Mintaka Reiki, and hope for the best!
I know that sounds like quite a laid-back approach, but that’s because I also knew I had Reiki on my side. Of course, I wanted Mintaka to be successful – because I wanted as many people as possible to hear about and benefit from the ancient healing practice of Reiki.
But if my practice hadn’t been as successful as it has been, then believe it or not, I would have been okay with that – I would have accepted that, for whatever reason, the time just wasn’t right for Mintaka.
That’s where handing over control comes into play.
Accepting things just as they are, has been one of the biggest life lessons I’ve had over recent years. It wasn’t always easy – and goodness knows I fought against it at times! But I’ve come to realise that everything that happens in life is happening for a reason, because it then enables the next thing to happen as a result of that first thing.
The way I see it, the timing of everything is perfect, and divine, which is why I don’t attempt to try and change or control things anymore. I just accept, and welcome, whatever happens.
So, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing for the last 24 months – learning on the job, and genuinely loving every moment of Mintaka.
I’ve met some amazing people – over 200 ‘clients’ (new friends) have ventured into The Cabin for their first Reiki Treatment with me, with lots of them returning for follow-up appointments, and even more coming for regular Reiki top-ups on a weekly or monthly basis.
And, of course, I’m now teaching Reiki, too. That’s definitely a part of the ‘job’ that I didn’t anticipate when I first started. But, just like Mintaka, it just sort of happened, the opportunity arose, so I went with it.
Which kinda leaves me wondering what will happen next… I’ll keep you posted!
Until next week.
Much love,
Denise
