Another Reiki sceptic sees the light!

I love it when I get feedback from clients, telling me how much the healing energy of Reiki has helped them after visiting Mintaka Reiki in Sandbach.

It’s always wonderful to hear about breakthrough moments, or how pain has been reduced, and several of my clients have been genuinely emotional as they’ve recounted how their experience with Reiki has delivered much-needed healing in ways they’d never expected.

But what I REALLY love, is when a Reiki sceptic finally sees the light! And that happened again this week.

For several years now, I’ve offered Reiki to one particular friend (let’s call him Bob, to maintain client confidentiality) whenever he’s been experiencing life’s lows.

But Bob’s always refused it. And whenever I talk about this unseen ‘energy’ that I somehow channel into people to help them heal, he flat refuses to accept it.

When a Reiki sceptic finally sees the light!
When a Reiki sceptic finally sees the light!

To say he’s a Reiki sceptic is an understatement! I might cite amazing results, but Bob puts it down to coincidence, or the placebo effect, or whatever other reason he can think of to rationalize what’s happened.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Reiki is a safe, natural, and simple healing technique, centred on relaxation and stress relief, which in turn helps to heal the body, mind and spirit. It’s based on the belief that an unseen life force energy flows through us all, affecting both our physical and emotional health.

During Reiki sessions, practitioners like me use hands-on techniques to transfer energy to a client, promoting healing and balance.

Needless to say, Bob thinks it all sounds a bit far-fetched. But then, out of the blue, he finally agreed to a Reiki Treatment this week! I know there’s a lot of stuff going on for him at the moment, so maybe he just thought the time was right. Whatever his reasons for agreeing, I was just grateful that he was finally allowing Reiki in.

Thankfully, Bob had an almost text-book experience during his treatment, seeing a kaleidoscope of colours when he closed his eyes and feeling so deeply relaxed that he just didn’t want to move from the bed when our Reiki time was over.

Bob hadn’t known what to expect, but he definitely didn’t want the feelings he’d just experienced to end.

His scepticism had been replaced by a sense of awe.

Bob even admitted that he’d wished he’d taken me up on my many offers of Reiki in the past. “Why did I wait so long?” he said. But the way I see it, Reiki always finds you when the time is right, which is usually just when you need it most.

Bob’s experience also got me thinking about those of you reading this who, like him, may be a little sceptical about whether Reiki ‘works’ or whether it’s right for you.

There really is only one way to find out, and that’s to have a Reiki Treatment. And hopefully, like Bob, once you’ve felt the blissful healing benefits of Reiki, and discovered for yourself how it can help both physical and emotional needs, your scepticism can finally take a step back.
