What are you watering today?

This time last week, I was in Matlock, nearing the end of an incredible three-day Reiki retreat with internationally renowned Reiki Master/Teacher, Frans Stiene.

It was a mind-blowing experience, and I hope that as I return to my work at Mintaka Reiki in Sandbach, that I do justice to all that Frans was able to teach us during our time with him.

This was my second trip to Fran’s retreat, I did the same workshop this time last year, and I knew the second that first class ended that I would be returning again this year. Why? Well, firstly, because it’s just so wonderful to spend time with fellow Reiki peeps, who know from their own experience just how life-changing Reiki is. There are no explanations needed, and I don’t have to justify what I do, because we all know that Reiki works, every time.

But I also wanted to return because, although we may have been already taught many of the practices Frans explains, it’s incredible how you sometimes ‘forget’ them, and you need a nudge, a gentle reminder, of just how important it is to practice those techniques for your own wellbeing.

When I teach my own classes, I always tell my students that even a little Reiki every day is better than no Reiki. Ten minutes before you get out of bed in the morning, really will set you up for the day.

But then, of course, life often gets in the way and before you know it you’re collapsing into bed at night without having done any Reiki for yourself. Which is such a shame, because this simple, natural, healing practice really will make such a massive difference to your life.

There were numerous inspiring insights that Frans shared throughout the weekend, but one in particular struck me, so I wrote it down. He said:

If you want to know what your past looked like, look at what’s happening today. And if you want to know what your future looks like, look at what’s happening today. What are you watering today?

As Frans explains, you get what you water today: so, if you water apple seeds, you’ll get an apple tree. If you water worry, you’ll get more worry. If you water anger and fear, you’ll get more anger and fear…

So be aware of what you’re watering today, because you’ll get more of the same.

We certainly watered lots of fun and joy in Matlock!

Reiki is all about learning to live today without any worry, or anger or fear. It’s about being grateful for all that you do have, not stressing about what you don’t have. It’s about being kind to yourself, and others, and it’s about being true to who you really are.

By allowing Reiki into your life, you really can start to live the kind of life you long for, not sometime in the future. But right now. Today.

Until next week.

Much love,

Denise
